It Starts Today
It starts today, it always does
‘Cos yesterday is just what was
And tomorrow is too far away
So I tell you now starts today
Your hopes and dreams that matter most
Begin to happen when you move close
To doing them in your own way
But only if you start today
So don’t despair and don’t give in
Just take a breath and then begin
To do one thing that lets you say
Today it starts, it starts today
Where it began
“It Starts Today” was written in 2011 on a yoga retreat in Raglan, New Zealand. The spoken recording preserves Gareth’s recitation of the poem; its recording date has not been confirmed.
Start is its later form in FLOW. The collection revisits earlier songs and words in new arrangements, including experiments with AI music tools.
